Three methods available for the identification of extraterrestrial material are: observation of fall; comparison of chemical and mineralogical composition to the composition of material seen to fall; or detection of nuclides produced by cosmic- ray bombardment. Analytical techniques include neutron activation analysis to measure cobalt, nickel, and copper in aggregate spherule samples.
