Abstract
Causes of paper deterioration and the expected life of paper are discussed first. A simple method to test pH of paper is described. Paper with pH values below 6.0 to 6.5 should be deacidified. An effective treatment will double or triple the potential life of acidic paper. Three types of deacidification methods are described: vapor phase, aqueous and nonaqueous. Sources for commercially available solutions are given. R.D.S. -- AATA
