Abstract
The influence of the symmetric or asymmetric arrangement of painting lining canvas and support canvas on the dimensional stability, resistance to creep and delamination, and elasticity of various relining procedures was studied in eight linings carried out by two artisans. It appears that the direction of the alignment of the fabrics is important for resistance to creep delamination and elasticity. The dimensional stability of the linings does not appear to be significantly influenced by the arrangement of the lining or support fabrics. See also AATA 18-1394 and 18-1395.
