Abstract
Several conservators discuss their cleaning techniques for paintings. Numerous solvents are used in varying combinations as well as various techniques in their application. It was noted that bread was used to clean a Paul Klee painting executed on burlap. The solvent that results from mixing two or more solvents, was often stronger than its individual components. Dangers of cleaning paintings were discussed such as swelling, leaching, and human health hazards.
