Report on the intensive inspection and analysis of both previously-reported and newly-found frescoes at Crac des Chevaliers and Marqab Castle (Syrian Arab Republic) by an art historian and a fresco conservator. For each of the five fresco ensembles, examples of medieval Crusader monumental painting, the article describes the extant frescoes and their current condition, comments on painting technique and materials, and discusses, in a preliminary way, the art historical questions they raise. -- AATA
