Abstract
The provenance of Fine Orange Maya figurines from Jaina and Jonuta, Mexico, is studied by correlation of their major, minor, and trace-element compositions, analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). Preliminary interpretation is that the Jonuta figurines form a compositional group indicating the probability of a single manufacturing place. The Jaina figurines present great variability in composition, indicating inadequate sampling, contamination, or several provenances; results are not yet conclusive.
