Abstract
A number of 19th century recipe books have permitted the identification of the raw materials used by Murano glassmakers in that period. The major part of the books concerns the manufacture of glass beads and glass for mosaics. Technical details indicate that fusion of the glass took place in three stages: the calcination of sand and soda to obtain frit, a preliminary melting, and a final fusion. -- AATA
