Abstract
The x-radiograph of Eugène Delacroix's painting <i>Halt of the Greek Cavaliers</i> revealed the presence of a portrait beneath the surface paint. This portrait has been identified as Maurice Sand, the son of the 19th-century French novelist George Sand. A brief description of the painting's construction is included.
