Abstract
While there have been investigations to rediscover the techniques used in the early days of animation in order to restore animation cels of that time to their original brilliance, to the best of the author's knowledge there has been no formal research available to the trained conservator regarding their preservation and conservation. The paper highlights the results of the author's research project, begun in February 1982, dealing with the animation cel: its structure and conservation. See also AATA 21-1416 for reference to entire proceedings.
