Abstract
The stored collections of the Science Museum, London, were moved to a warehouse type of building, equipped for mechanical handling of heavy and bulky objects. Specimens on wooden pallets are moved by fork-lift truck onto heavy duty racking. Mobile racking was fitted down the center of the building and a five ton gantry crane fit into one bay. But water gets into the building causing a certain amount of mold, mildew and fungus growth, and moths have also caused damage to woolen upholstery. However, objects can be seen and moved very quickly.
