Abstract
Lead-210 (<sub>210</sub>Pb) dating can be applied over a time-scale of about 100 years. The source of the <sub>210</sub>Pb in the <sub>238</sub>U radioactive decay series, and the factors affecting its distribution are discussed. The methodology of <sub>210</sub>Pb dating is outlined, and those factors that must meet strict requirements for successful results are described. Examples of <sub>210</sub>Pb dating are presented.
