Abstract
Xeroradiography, a relatively uncommon form of radiographic investigation, was used to analyze four paintings, two on wood and two on canvas. In each case the layers underlying the surface of the paintings were identified by xeroradiography. These results are discussed together with the technique which is analyzed critically and compared to others such as conventional radiography.
