The author considers the housing of museum collections in order to provide adequate conditions and security. The growth of the collections must be allowed for in the original design. Objects should be housed according to the frequency and way they are likely to be used in public display or study. Close proximity between public and study collections is recommended. Some suggestions of how this could be achieved are given. The environmental and practical details of housing and the security of the objects are discussed briefly.
