Abstract
Deals with the training of conservators of movable historic monuments, especially at the Academies of Fine Arts in Cracow and in Warsaw and at the Copernicus University in Torún. The five-year program attracts many foreign students, and graduates may participate in annual contests organized by the Ministry of Culture and Ars for best scientific research works and conservation studies. The plan to establish a central institute is criticized due to costs; a program for secondary education of technicians and laboratory operators is advocated. One of the most important problems is that nothing has been done to improve housing conditions at monuments conservation workshops.
