The ICOM Training in Conservation and Restoration working committee met at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts from the 5th to 10th of September 1983. At the meeting, a definition of the profession of a restorer was adopted and information on national training programs exchanged. Further, the meeting focused on the natural-science training of restorers, the integration of students into research work, and the preparation, availability and international exchange of didactic teaching material and information. The meeting was designed to prepare the working party for effective work at the 1984 ICOM Conference of the Conservation Committee, held in Copenhagen, Denmark.
