Abstract
Before the introduction of systematic training for restorers, museums had no other choice but to employ artists who could be considered Sunday painters or handcraftsmen at best. In many places there has been no improvement in this area. The regular training of restorers of art objects at the Art School resembles the training of doctors. Thus after taking a degree, it is not advisable for the novice restorer of art objects to receive private patients, although currently instances of this are common. Restorers should know more about museology, and museologists should have more awareness of importance of conservation-restoration. See also AATA 22-399 for reference to book.
