Abstract
The development of a conservation training program in Poland was a direct response to damage incurred during World War II. In Warsaw, the conservation program was established at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1947. The changes in staff, physical plant, academic preparation, and curriculum are noted; as of the mid-1970's, the conservation training program was vastly improved, with the most pressing need of finding competent, scientifically trained staff to replace faculty who were soon to retire. -- AATA
