Abstract
After discussing display methods, the author comments on silver cleaning methods. Soap and water with French chalk and ammonia for the worst tarnish are preferred to the aluminium de-tarnish bath or to dipping solutions. The author feels that a certain amount of tarnish in recesses is aesthetically desirable. It is suggested that stored silver may be lacquered, but that on display should be kept polished.
