Abstract
When planning a thorough reconstruction job, as was the case in the cupola of the Frederiksborg Castle, a number of things have to be considered in order to stay true to the original decor. Where possible, the marbling was made to look as much like the real marble abuting it, without hiding the fact that it was painted. Two different paint mixtures were used, each the best to copy its kind of marble. The method of application is described.
