Abstract
This article discusses the presence of mildew, fungi and similar microorganisms on natural and manmade fibers. Methods to detect and combat them are discussed, including microscopic analysis and use of bactericides. The drawbacks of anti-mildew treatments are enumerated; thus they should be used only when absolutely necessary. Under normal conditions mildew attacks are rare; however, fungal growth proliferates in environments with high heat and humidity. -- AATA
