The increasing concern for photographs and their conservation has prompted the authors to investigate certain aspects of this work. The areas of investigation are: a silver tarnishing test for materials used in the conservation of photographs; identification of gelatin in the photographic emulsion; problems associated with photographic mounts and their removal; the method of mounting prints; improvements in the techniques of Daguerreotype restoration.
