Extensive technical studies carried out upon copper alloy artifacts from Ugarit are reported. Evidence exists for the smelting of sulfide ores; however, this smelting was not local and the slag examined may have been brought to this site as a votive material. Information is also presented on brass alloys containing 12% or more zinc. One of these pieces was stratigraphically dated to 1400 B.C. Galmei containing lead may have been the source of this alloy. -- AATA
