Abstract
A fundamental aim of ink manufacture is to alter the physical properties of the pigment, i.e. break down the aggregates and agglomerates of particles that exist in any pigment in its natural form. This procedure is referred to as dispersion and a lot of time and money is spent by inkmakers to ensure that it is done asequately and efficiently. A printing ink is, therefore, rather more than just a mixture.
