Abstract
A 9th-century gilded bronze reliquary was recovered in fragments in 1976 in winchester, england. Badly deteriorated, the object was not identified before treatment was begun. Reinforced and supported, the object was dewatered, then cleaned over a period of 5 years. Examinations disclosed the method of construction of the reliquary and found chambers in the wooden core, but could not identify the contents. The fragments were supported on an epoxy resin mount. Diagrams, photographs, references. -- ICCROM
