Abstract
Felted wool carpet yarns are continuing to prove popular for various carpet styles, especially those in coarse gauges. This has led to investigations into various shortcuts to production of such yarns at low cost but high quality. A new integrated process, introduced by Dreher-Milnor and Neil and Spencer, for a combined scouring, dyeing and milling and centrifuging was recently perfected and adapted for this purpose. The principles of this technique are outlined in this paper along with its present status.
