Abstract
The relative effectiveness of typical additives, including the chelate DTPA, on reducing peroxide decomposition catalyzed by heavy metal ion was recently conducted in the laboratory. Modification of the bleach bath mixture, to ascertain the optimum combination of stabilizing agents, resulted in solution blends that were effective in maintaining high residual peroxide amounts, Data from two original peroxide bleaching/DTPA mill trials confirms the labroatory results. The projected economic benefit of chelate addition is also demonstrated here. -- AATA
