Since 1930, unglazed pots of terracotta have been found in excavations at Mesopotamia, which contain one or more bronze cylinders, and are sealed with bitumen. These pots might conceivably be batteries, which probably were used for galvanic gilding and silvering bronzes. The use of prussic acid, produced from stones of fruits, can be assumed to have been used to produce the gold solution. -- AATA
