A survey is presented of the archaeological research treating the area around Metkovic between 1974-1977. Particular attention was paid to the prehistoric tumuli found in the area of the village of Momici. On the basis of measurements taken on more than 70 tumuli whose original size had been preserved, the tumuli are divided into two groups: one contains the tumuli whose diameter is less than ten meters and the other those whose diameter is between ten and fifteen meters. As a rule the graves are situated in the middle of the tumuli, built of flat and unfinished stone plates. These tumuli and their graves date to the late Bronze Age. -- AATA
