Abstract
The degree of integrity of museum collections varies considerably and is determined by thorough research into each collection. The potential research value is thus identifiable for each collection depending upon the collecting procedures and the competency of the curation. The identification of signature characteristics belonging to specific archaeological proveniences enables old and poorly documented collections to be incorporated into a usable body of scientific data. The Spiro finds exemplify such potential for yielding new data -- even from the most unpromising collections. See 19-769. -- AATA
