Abstract
The methods of tree-ring analysis recently developed are described, and some important applications are presented with examples. Emphasis is laid on growth and yield studies, especially on problems of increasing yields by application of fertilizers, and of decrease in growth due to infestation with pests and pollutions, as well as on assessment of the wood quality. Furthermore, methods of tree-ring analysis are useful for dendroclimatological analyses and for the calibration of 14C dating. Dendrochronological dating has been applied to objects of archaeology, architectural and art history, and in particular to wood panels of Dutch artists of the 16th and 17th centuries. See 7-1515, 8-725, 11-550, and 18-1265. -- AATA
