Abstract
Imprints of grains in pottery from Middle Minoan Knossos and Late Bronze Age Enkomi were determined from casts made by a plastic compound used by dentists which is called Silone and is made from a silicon base. Hulled barley and emmer wheat were found in the pottery from Enkomi and a grape kernel, an olive stone, hulled barley, emmer wheat and terebinth pistacia were observed in the pottery from Knossos. A mollusc was also identified in a cup from Knossos suggesting that sea sand was used as admixture in the ceramic body. -- AATA
