Abstract
Problems encountered in exhibitions are discussed. Ars 74 was an exhibit of modern works including exceptionally large paintings (the largest being 4 x 8 m). The Russian art exhibit (including icons, fresco paintings and antiquities) required special climatic control. The Art Museum of the Atheneum with a summer temperature from 25° to 35° C. and a relative humidity near 70% needed additional equipment to cool the air to 18° C. and to reduce the relative humidity to 55%. Damage was avoided by transporting the art works in refrigerator vans from the U.S.S.R. to Finland. A constant temperature and relative humidity were maintained; exposure from lighting with ultraviolet rays was avoided. -- AATA
