Abstract
A group of Neolithic plaster figures from the site of Ain Ghazal, Jordan, was lifted in a block of earth for excavation/consolidation under the controlled conditions of a conservation laboratory. Plaster analysis and consolidation tests were carried out. B-72 in various solvents and concentrations, alkoxysilanes and B-72 mixed with various alkoxysilanes were used to consolidate samples of both ancient and modern plaster. Tensile strength tests were performed on the modern samples and the results compared.
