Information previously circulated in Carpet Technical Information Letter No. 34 is supplemented by an account of the effects of yarn and carpet construction. The development of a special primary backing fabric, designed to give improved fibre bind and to prevent grinning, is described. Washing techniques have been developed which allow wall-to-wall carpets as well as rugs to be made.
