The development of the use of acrylic polymers as coatings is examined. The argument is made that acrylic coatings can be prepared with a wide range of physical properties and physical forms, can be cross-linked by many chemical reactions, and can be designed to be applied by every commercially useful method, while offering a balance of cost, utility, and chemical resistance. -- AATA
