Abstract
The first article is an attempt to define terminology so that metallurgists and archaeologists can communicate. The terms defined are: 1)pressure welding, cold; 2)pressure welding, hot; 3)fusion-welding; 4)sintering; 5) colloid soldering; 6)soldering and brazing. The second article concerns the melting together of gold and platinum. Although temperatures high enough to melt the platinum could not be reached, melting nuggets together caused the gold to melt and join the platinum grains together. The platinum then dissolved in the gold. -- AATA
