Abstract
The high value of embroideries has contributed to the installation of this art as a family tradition in Greece. Greek folk art embroideries are divided into two types (counted and freestyle), for two uses (costume and home), and by two broad geographical divisions (mainland and islands). Styles have been influenced by history, geography, the ability to produce threads and dyes, and a sustained interest in the arts of embroidery and weaving.
