Abstract
Buildings can be studied from a number of points of view: stylistic, iconographic, archaeologi-cal (i.e., examination of the surfaces and tooling of masonry to establish which parts are original and which are later restorations). Each of these three approaches to the interpretation of architecture is explained; and used then to analyze two church buildings-Norwich Cathedral and Laon Cathedral. -- AATA
