Abstract
The dendrochronological calendar has been extended far back into the prehistoric period over the past years. This was made possible not only through the analysis of artifacts but also of fossil trees. In northern Germany, oaks were preserved under favorable conditions in bogs. They are several thousand years-old and were useful in setting up a chronology going back to neolithic times. -- AATA
