Bronze powder has been prepared for some 900 years, and bronze inks have been used for printing in Europe since the 14th century. The monograph discusses the use of metal-pigmented writing inks (gold and bronze powder) and paints, e.g., in ancient Egyptian documents (gold leaf since 2600 BC); bronze printing and bronzing of wood cuts, decorative papers, wallpapers, books, magazines, etc; and modern metal pigment prints (since ca 1970).
