The terephthalic acid method of determining alkali and acid content in wool, introduced by H. R. Hirst and A. T. King, was compared to other existing procedures. It was modified by the use of hydrazine sulphate as a primary standard instead of sulphuric acid and by applying electrometric end point detections. -- AATA
