This article explains the use of pesticides in tests made with different phostoxin dosages, to exterminate the Khapra beetle, common in many parts of the world and usually found in stored grain. The tests were applied in special, gas-tight boxes, where the wheat grain was first tested for temperature and humidity, and where the application time took 72 hours. Tests were also made on the outside, using full grain sacks with larvae implanted and put under gas-tight covers, as well as tests made in grain silos built of air-dried bricks and protected with gas-tight covers. Four tables explain the experiments, the conditions prevailing and the chemicals used. Mention is made that particularly in the USA, methyl bromide can be used successfully because of availability of technical personnel and equipment and other favorable conditions, whereas in Ankara, Turkey, where the tests took place, those conditions do not prevail.
