Ferromagnetism has been detected in ancient copper coinage. Consistent values are obtained for coins from the same period and region, suggesting a correlation with the ore used. This appears to be the first study of the magnetic properties of ancient coinage. Examples are given of coins from the Kushan Empire. -- AATA
