Abstract
Amino acid dating of fossil shells and bones from the shoreline deposits along the US Atlantic and Pacific Coasts is carried on to understand rates of uplift or offset of these deposits during the past one or two million years. Fossil analysis and laboratory experiments are used to understand more about the geochemical mechanisms of racemization. Laboratory methods and the advantages of the use of this technique are discussed in detail. -- AATA
