Abstract
The importance of collaboration between the conservator and art historian during the examination of portrait miniatures is stressed, together with the necessity of technical examination of the works of art. The use of microscopy, fiber optic light sources, ultra-violet fluorescence, x-radiography, and infrared reflectance during examination is discussed. The art historical problems of the attribution of some works of art are summarized in a case history. See 9-928.
