Abstract
Although all buildings surveyed have fire detectors, alarms, and extinguishing systems, many expect to upgrade their protection program by installing automatic suppression systems and increasing the number of hand-held extinguishers. Cost of systems is a major factor in the speed of implementing plans. Several instances are cited where installed fire extinguishing equipment failed to work as designed.
