Abstract
Different fungi and Actinomycetes were isolated from samples of papyrus. It was found that papyrus-decomposing microorganisms may grow at temperatures from 24° to 42°C and that fungi which thrive at low temperatures rarely occur. Out of four fungicides tested -- Thymol, pentachlorophenol, dichlorophene, 4-chloro-3-cresol -- only 4-chloro-3-cresol protected the papyrus. See also 20-388, 20-389, 20-451, 20-549 and 20-1149.
