Abstract
The purpose of scientific investigations undertaken for the Egyptian Museum in Berlin (GDR), in 1975, was to prove whether the pigments coming from the 13th century B.C. Are of natural or artificial origin, similar to or different from those used in Egypt. After quantitative chemical analysis, derivatographical, x-ray diffraction and mineralogical examinations these pigments were found: white pigments are of natural caustic sludge origin; yellow are natural mining products; red are also from natural source, brick-clay (nevertheless, red pigments of such a character are not mentioned in the literature dealing with Egyptian pigments); light brown pigments are an artificial mixture from natural material.
