Abstract
The paper reviews adhesion, discusses fracture mechanics approach to adhesion, surface chemistry approach to adhesion and the relationship between the two. The preliminary theoretical discussion leads into the surface chemistry of polymer spreading and adhesion to wool. Although the adhesion of polymers to wool, as discussed, is concerned with reducing shrinkage of raw wool and manufactured wool fabrics after washing, the theory is useful in understanding the adhesion of polymers to low energy substrates. -- AATA
