A regression analysis has shown up relationships between abrasion resistance and twist ofworsted yarns. Test values from a set of 45 yarns which included a wide range of twist values were analyzed and showed twist to be the main factor affecting abrasion resistance. Fiber fineness and length were also significant. In a further study of 24 yarns where the twist varied only over commercial limits, twist is again the most important factor but with less relative influence: other factors concerning abrasion resistance are fiber length and fineness, yarn count and the tension on the yarn. -- AATA
